One of the best films in the Jaguar collection, The Experiment tells the touching story of two best friends whose «experiment» with gay sex with each leads to confusion. Billy Joe and Gary Lee live in a dust-bowl-like area in the American Southwest. They are handsome, young, best buds and don't have a care in the world. That is, until they act on their desires and make love to each other. The night of passion leaves Billy Joe confused, ("It wasn't meant to mean anything!") as he then leaves his home, his job at his Pa's diner/gas station and wanders the area, embarking on a sexual odyssey in search of himself. Even Gary Lee gets it on with others. But the two teens really love each other. Will fate and the power of true love bring them back together? A coming out scene with one of the teen's fathers is shockingly heartfelt. The young men are uniformly attractive, the sex hot yet tender and the film a cut above just about any fuck film made these past 30 years.

One of Cadinot's weaker efforts is nearly redeemed by an unquestionably hot «mile high club» initiation scene. This pre-condom flick features a young (an oxymoron when describing a Cadinot title, I suppose) DeLeiris who has discovered that his boyfriend has been a bad boy and broken the bonds of their relationship by posing for nudie pics. (Quel scandal!) So he decides to strike out on his own, meeting up with an assortment of (naturally) eager to please young manboys and whatnot.
The airplane scene (a deep throating hummer given up in the air) takes place during DeLeiris' jaunts and was a real eye-opener. (What... no headsets?) Romantic and sweet in it's way, it's what can politely be referred to as «minor Cadinot.» The film has it's fans, but I'm not really one of them. He's done much, much better. The lame «on again off again» subtitling doesn't help matters either.
